Mole Removal

Moles. Also called: Nevus
Moles are growths on the skin. They happen when cells in the skin, called melanocytes, grow in a cluster with tissue surrounding them. Moles are very common. A person may develop new moles from time to time, usually until about age 40.
Moles are usually pink, tan or brown. They can be flat or raised. They are usually round or oval .
Dysplastic nevi is an unusual growth that looks different from an ordinary mole. They at times may develop into melanoma , a type of skin cancer. Because of this, you should have a healthcare professional check your moles.

Warts. Also called: Verruca
Warts are growths on your skin caused by an infection with human papilloma virus. Types of warts include
  • Common warts, which often appear on face and fingers.
  • Plantar warts, which show up on the soles of feet
  • Genital warts, which are a sexually transmitted disease
In children, warts often go away on their own. In adults, they tend to stay. If they hurt or bother you, or if they multiply, you can remove them. Radiofrequency ablation (RFA), surgical and laser treatments can remove warts.

Cutaneous skin tags
Cutaneous skin tags are small, usually harmless (benign) skin growths. They usually occur after midlife. The tag sticks out of the skin and may have a short, narrow stalk connecting it to the surface of the skin.
Cutaneous tags are usually painless and do not grow or change. However, they may be irritated from rubbing by clothing or other materials. Cutaneous skin tags are more common in people who are overweight or who have diabetes.
Other characteristics include:
  • Located on the neck, armpits, trunk, body folds, or other areas
  • May have a narrow stalk, skin-colored, occasionally darker.

Modes of Treatment/Removal:

Warts/Moles/Warts/Skin tags can be treated by several modes of treatment such as:
  • Local applications
  • Cryosurgery
  • Laser
  • Electrosurgery or RFA
Currently Electrosurgery or RFA is the best and most preferred mode of treatment.

About Electrosurgery or RFA and advantages:

Electrosurgery
is the application of a high-frequency electric current to biological tissue which gets heated-up and cuts-off easily, smoothly without bleeding and scarring.
Its benefits include the ability to make:
Precise cuts without blood loss and scarring.
             Single sitting is required.

Electrosurgical devices are frequently used during surgical operations helping to prevent blood loss in hospital operating rooms or in outpatient procedures.
Local Application of medicines is long-term process with uncertain outcome. Most of the preparations are not yet approved by Medical Authorities as an effective treatment formulations.
Laser Treatments can be painful, expensive, and can cause scarring.
Cryosurgery requires 3 to 4 sittings for moles/warts of thin skin. Bigger or hard warts/moles/tags might take dozens or more treatments.
